Dad was the youngest of a mountain family trying to make it without a father. Daddy is the little guy in the above picture.  It was a time when there were no roads, no cars and if you wanted to eat you had to grow food and live off the land.  The family walked through the mountains for miles to find work in the Eastern Kentucky coal mines.
